Menus Closing

I'm trying to help a friend with a computer/jaws problem. She's running Win
98 and Earthlink 5.0 (not the total access) When she uses the earthlink
mailbox, she will go to open a menu and it will close itself. Does anyone
have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance!
