Hi,

I just downloaded this. I want to get rid of mskdtect which is left over from Span Killer, a programme I wasted some money on. The uninstal left it and a folder of stuff behind which I cannot delete because of some security settings I haven't figured out how to disable and of course something brings it up at start-up.

Anyway, nothing is highlighted in that list to be deleted.

I can't tell if it is checked in the msconfig programme, there are other things there but none show up in this programme.

How do I make it aware of what I want destroyed?

Thanks.

I don't know why they say "check out". That is misleading. They really just mean "check" the items you want removed. So you check (press the space bar) on the items you want deleted in the listview, then enter on the clean up button. The web address just happens to be on the same line with the instructions. As you probably found out, if you go to the website, they have a commercial product called InControl Startup Manager so I think they want to make sure you visit their website, smile. Did that clear things up, or not? Debbie

By menu entries, I meant msconfig entries.

After I open the cleanup program, this is what I get at the top of the
page:
Check out the items you want removed. www.get-in-control.com

Jerry, do you mean the MSConfig Cleanup program itself? When I tab I
only
hear the buttons and a listview. I selected all the text in the virtual
viewer and I got the following. I'm not sure what you mean by what the
menu
entries do. There is no menu in the progam.
MSConfig Cleanup
AboutMSConfig Cleanup
Check out the items you want removed.
Then click 'Clean Up' to proceed. www.get-in-control.com
Application File Path
There are no disabled startup items in MSConfig
Select All Deselect All Clean Up Selected Quit

   Hello Debbie.

I agree with you about all the junk in msconfig. In fact, when Tracy at
Freedom Scientific and I wer trouble-shooting a problem I was having, I
was quite surprised to find I could turn off everything I had in there.

One question, at the top of the window it gives a web address
purportedly to check what those menu entries do. I copied it with the
Jaws cursor only to find it was the home page. Am I wrong in how I read
that?

Thanks for bringing this one up.
Jerry

I know that there are some of you out there who are as obsessive compulsive as I am, smile, because you have written me about this before. You can delete these entries from your registry. But I just found a freeware program that does it and is jaws friendly.

MSConfig Cleanup
MSConfig is a small and helpful tool. It allows you
disable programs which are starting with Windows.
Unfortunately you can only disable items but they
remain in the list. MSConfig Cleanup lets you remove
the residue!
