Hi Jerry,

I don't think you need to go through such machinations to just clear the
Find function off the screen and be on the line where the word you're
looking for is. Just hit Escape. As I remember from when I could see well
enough to read a screen myself, if you're looking at it, the Find function
doesn't interfere with your seeing where in your document's text the search
has landed you, so you can decide just by looking whether to click on Find
Next or just hit Escape to clear the screen and go on with your writing or
editing. But using Jaws, at least lately, the find dialogue seems to
interfere, and you have to escape it so you can see where it landed you on a
search results. But just hit Escape, that's all.

If the word at that location isn't the instance you were looking for, you
can just invoke the Find function again with Control F and, here's a neat
convenience in Jaws 8, you can either find your search term still in the
edit box of the dialogue, or find it listed below in a combo box from which
you can choose it without having to retype it.

Again, just hit Escape, and I think you'll be okay.

Hello Jerry,
you can do the following task:
try to close the document you are working on. Then open it again. If it will
not work, try to reinstall your JAWS. I hope it helps you. Good luck!
