John, Okay. Well, that makes all the difference. See, if spell check catches a typo or a misspelled word (or, in your case, also what it sees as a grammatical mistake depending on which level of diction you set the program to judge by) and you don't do anything but say to ignore it, that isn't recorded anywhere in the document, so it isn't saved when you exit the document. Make sense? I know, it's an inconvenience, sometimes. I often will work on one document over a series of many sessions, and periodically check and recheck the spelling of certain sections or the whole document, just to keep everything as right as possible. Which means I have to tell spell check, again and again, to ignore something it sees as a possible mistake but which I know is a word or name I deliberately typed but don't prefer to add to the dictionary because it's too close to another word in spelling and I could always type it by accident and wouldn't want it to slide through and leave me with a real error. But it's not the worst inconvenience in the world for me, so I just grin and bear it. Well, sometimes I yell at the spell check and say "hey, didn't I tell you to ignore that, already?" but that's about it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Ramsey" <stephnjohnny211@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, November 20, 2006 12:36 PM Subject: RE: MS Word Problem Hello yardbird, Yes I do mean when I reopen the document the spell check does not seem to remember what it was told to ignore. I guess I have never noticed it to this degree before. It is definitely taking me to task on some of my less familiar grammar rules. It's my experience that the Ignore command works during a given Word session with a document. But if I close the document, and then open it later and again spell check the same part of it as before, or the whole thing, the spell checker won't remember what I told it to ignore earlier. This would be normal. Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Ramsey" <stephnjohnny211@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, November 20, 2006 12:12 PM Subject: MS Word Problem Hello All, I am using JFW 8, windows XP, and MS Office 2000. I have been experiencing a problem with the spell check in MS Word that seems kind of strange. When I tell the spell check to ignore a particular rule or word, and then resume work on the document at a later time, the same rules and words that were supposed to be ignored are always rechecked and this is kind of annoying. Does anyone else have this kind of problem?
