Hi,

I've had AVG installed here for years now and it's never caused a problem with 
my internet.  I've had blank pages on email as well since i use HTML based emal 
messages.  I am not really sure what to tell you on your end.  I suppose you 
could un install AVG and see if the problem goes away.  If it doesn't go away 
then you know its nothing to do with AVG and can re install it.

  This happens with my e-mail and I did get the same thing on the Internet 
tonight but seems to be happening since installing AVG virus protection 2 days 
ago.  Is there something that can be done?

    Hi,

    When using  JAWS 7.1  or   8.0 and IE 7 and possibly IE 6 when a browser is 
first loaded and you go to a web page sometimes you will get an apparently 
blank page.  But if you use the  JAWS cursor you can tell that the page isn't 
actually blank.  This also happens when you go from site to site or on IE7 when 
you switch tabs as well.

    Sometimes this can be gotten around by pressing F6 a couple of times but 
other times all you can do is close the browser and try it again.

        Hi Barb,

        Virtual buffers are used so you can navigate a HTML page where there 
actually isn't any cursor for JAWS to use.  SO the Web page is read into a 
virtual buffer and massaged to something that is more presentable and able to 
be navigated with the PC cursor.  Everytime you read a web page or answer a 
email using HTML you actually are using a virtual buffer whether you are aware 
of it or not.  JAWS also uses these virtual buffers in other areas to show text 
windows with different types of information in them.  IF you have a window that 
JAWS brings up and tells you to press Escape at the end of it to close it is a 
virtual buffer as well.

          I have to agree.  I don't know what a virtual buffer is but can tell 
you these settings are what I too got for every question I asked FS regarding 
my problems with Jaws 8.   None of them were fixed by changing the settings.

            The response they gave you is crap.  None of these settings have 
been necessary since JAWS 6.  Jaws 6 and later should run very well with XP 
settings out of the box.  This is basically how I set my machine here and how 
we set all of our machines at work.  All those settings they told you to change 
are completely unnecessary for newer versions of JAWS and will do nothing to 
fix the IE bug.

              Yes I believe I have Darrell if you are talking about when JAWS 
makes it seem like nothing is there. . As a matter of fact, I e-mailed FS about 
this issue yesterday. I will place the reply below. 
              I hope this helps. I sometimes remedy this issue by hitting the 
F5 command when using IE 6. I still have to check and make the changes myself 
as described below.

display settings.  
              Below are the suggested settings to optimize  Windows XP with 
Jaws.  
              1.  Press Control plus Escape or Windows Key to open the Start 
Menu.
              2.  Press S for Settings and Enter on Control Panel.
              3.  Press the letter D till you hear display and press Enter.
              4. on the Themes Page:
              Windows XP should be set to modified by default.
              To change press alt plus down arrow to open
              5.  Control Tab to the Desktop Tab

              6.  Press Control Tab to Screen Saver
              Set to none]
              7.  Control Tab to Appearance Tab

              1. Hold down the Windows key and press the letter M to get to the

              I am running JAWS 7.1 on my laptop with Windows XP SP2. 
              While surfing the web, JAWS tends to hang up on me when a page is 
loading. In other words, I often can't get it to say or do anything until the 
page is
              fully loaded. 
              I have also had JAWS lose focus while on the net. The web page 
can be loading and all of a sudden the web page is no longer there. I check the 
status of
              the page with the JAWS command at one minute and the page is 
still loading, then the next minute it says nothing. I try hitting the arrow 
keys to move
              the cursor and nothing is said. However, if I hit the numpad 5 
key Jaws will say blank. I end up doing an alt-tab command to get the web page 
back in focus,
              and everything works again. 
              JAWS is also very sluggish during these times. 
              I hope you all can assist me with this issue.

              Hello Everyone,

              I have been noticing more and more frequent instances where web 
pages pulled up in IE 7 using either JAWS 7.1 or 8.0 have completely blank 
virtual buffers.  It is necessary to close and reload the browser window.  
Further, this problem increases in frequency the longer JAWS is running.  The 
problem goes away for awhile after JAWS has been closed and restarted, then 
recurs soon after.

              Anyone else experiencing this issue?
