Way I get around that is I tell people, if the router works for you as is, 
don't worry about firmware, if you need an update, go for it, I've only got 
one for the one I use here and I've had this router now for 3 years at least 
and I never updated the one before it. The first one didn't have wireless 
capabilities, that's why I traded it in on the one I now have,it's not the 
model you're asking about but it's it's predecessor and I have helped people 
set up the one you have and are asking about and the interface is exactly 
the same.
