Well, my experience has been that it doesn't restart it, only shuts it down so that you can restart it. Mark

Subject: Kill Jaws does not restart speech

Hi listers,

I'm using Jaws v. 8.0.422. When I use the kill Jaws command (insert-start-F4) I hear a very short buzz from my CPU and Jaws does not restart. I have determined that Jaws is unloading, but something is preventing it from starting again. This feature worked perfectly for me in the original version of Jaws 8, but not since. I am reluctant to update because I was running a more current version of 8 but rolled back because of some intolerable problems.

Ok, so if anyone has any hints on resolving this issue, I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Norma
