Very interesting. I have Office 2007 so theoretically have access to that 
capability, but have never stumbled across anything like that.

Is this something that needs to be downloaded from the MS site as are 
upgrades?

hello,

yes, Microsoft office has had speech recognition software available in it
since office 2000 I think was when it started, I know it was in 2002, or
office XP as it was called, and I think I remember it during my brief time
on office 2000 as well.

it has, at least until now, come packaged with the office suites
specifically for the use as the original person showed there use of it.
