The term phonetic is correct. The phonetic alphabet was created by NATO in the 50s.

Yes, the term phoenetic is actually incorrect, I do agree. Since I've memorized the entire ITU alphabet (which is what that system is--I forget what ITU itself stands for--some organization that came up with the system, that much I know) and most people don't understand it anyway. They laugh when I use it because it's not really that well-known outside ham circles or people like me, who memorized it for one reason or another. Comes in handy though regardless of people's reaction. :) Mark----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: "JFW List" <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 06, 2007 2:32 PM Subject: Re: Jaws speech voiceHi guys,I don't think you'd call "phonetic" what you get by pressing num pad 5 (no insert key needed; that would read the whole word the cursor's on) twice. Sofar as I'm aware, it's just something like a military or nautical thingwhere each letter is attached to a common word to make it clear in case of ahazy radio signal or the like. Lima, India, kilo, echo, for instance.that's a big 10-4, I say to myself, switching to CB mode. Breaker, breaker. What's your 10-20?----- Original Message ----- From: "Cy Selfridge" <cselfridge@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 06, 2007 11:02 AM Subject: RE: Jaws speech voice Simply pressing the numpad 5 will give you the letter, second press willgive you the phonetic for that letter and pressing the numpad the third time will give you the ASCII number for the letter or whatever the cursor was on.-----Original Message-----From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On BehalfOf Peter Holdstock Sent: Friday, August 03, 2007 4:33 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Jaws speech voiceYou could move to the letter you can't understand and press INSERT + numpad5I think that gives you the letter pheticaly, if not, try pressing it twice.Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: "addison gethers" <OAG1ROTTIE@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 03, 2007 8:55 PM Subject: Jaws speech voice Can anybody tell me how can I get the jaws speech voice ,where I can hearthe letter clear ?
