Steve, this happens because the text is being written to the screen 1 letter
at a time rather than having the full message written as 1 chunk of data.
There is a setting in the configuration manager which may help. This setting
specifies the number of milliseconds JAWS waits before speaking text newly
written to the screen. The default
value is 50. The setting is called "text out delay" and is found under
advanced options in the set options menu. You could try entering a larger
number to slow down jaws responsiveness to new screen writes which may
eliminate the problem. You will likely have to try a number of different
values to find one that will do the trick.

Subject: Jaws not reading incoming text correctly

I'm running a few different amateur radio programs that use the soundcard
to decode incoming signals and display it as text on the screen. By
setting screen echo to "all" Jaws will read the incoming text, but reads in
an odd fashion. If the incoming text is "Hello", Jaws will say: h h e h
e l h e l l h e l l o hello.

Any way to have this stuff read normally. Am running win xp and the last
version of Jaws prior to the v 6 release.

Thanks much. Steve
