Re: Jaws basic training in Daisy format:

On my machine the speech quality of Daisy from Freedom Scientific drops off
quite markedly as the rate is increased. There seems to be a kind of echo and
hollow sound, or almost as if two voices were speaking simultaneously. The
Victorsoft software seems to do a far superior job in speech compression. Other
navigational functions seem comparable though. I wonder if this is on my
machine
or do others experience a similar problem?

Ah. So the rest of what I was wondering isn't so. In other words, if you
learn to use this program to read the Jaws tutorial material, it won't time
out. It's just designed so that if you try to use this demo version to
read, say, a book from RFB&D, it won't work. At which point, when the full
version is released, you'd have to either purchase that or, of course, one
of its competitors in the market, whatever those are.

Am I getting it?

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi.
Daniel asked:

>you want full uninterrupted functionality?
The FS reader demo, note this is a demo, comes with JAWS 6. It is a
software application designed to read books in daisy format, hence the
title, FS reader. Yes, there is a full version that is, or will be
available soon that will give you full uninterrupted access.

The only limitation is that you can not read any other materials with the
demo, other than the JAWS basic training materials which are downloadable
on the FS site, or on the JAWS 6 cd, and these are available to you,
absolutely free of charge.

Hope this helps.
