Katherine, you use XP home, right?  You really shouldn't have to specify a 
path.  Windows will look for it in the system 32 folder.  Otherwise it 
wouldn't work from the run dialog the way it does.  So just do this.

Minimize to your desktop and find your jaws icon.
Press ALT+ENTER when the Desktop icon is highlighted to open its properties.
In the First field labeled Target:, delete what is there and paste in the 
following:
net start jfwservice
Enter on okay.
Now shut down jaws and press your hotkey.
If it all worked right, you should hear a message the jfw service is 
starting.

I can change the boxes in the user account folder but I don't understand how
to do the target in the Jaws properties.  It says to type the full path and
there are a lot
