Jack,
You are correct about one thing, there is an awful lot of confusion
surrounding the authorization key.
From what I have read the only version of JAWS you need to uninstall
before you install the CD version of 6.0 is the downloaded Quella
version of 6.0.
If it were me I would just remove the blasted key before I uninstalled
anything relating to JAWS because it is no big trick to take it off and
then put it back on.
In older versions of JAWS you could uninstall and reinstall without
worrying about the key but, nowadays, who knows.

OK, there seems to be some confusion here... If I uninstall Jaws 5.10,
or
any earlier version and I leave the key in the computer, and there is no

jaws program in the computer. That key will stay there?
I have always heard that if you uninstall any version of Jaws, for any
reason, you take out that authorization key first, or the Key will be
gone
for good once that version of jaws is removed from the hard drive. If
I'm
mistaken, please feel free to correct me on this one.
But my understanding has always been that if you remove Jaws from your
computer, and you want to keep your authorization key. You must
uninstall
the key back to the floppy disc, or that key will be gone for good once
you
uninstall Jaws.
