Hello Rynette,
I also have OmniPage pro 14 installed on this machine and don't really like
it. I do however, like the Abbyy fine reader Pro version 8 and would
probably not purchase open book even if I had the extra funds because I like
the product I am using.
Take care,
John

Subject: Jaws: Fine Reader and Open Book

Hi John and Chris and other Listers

I have the demo version of Open Book installed on my computer and can try it
out for 30 days.

In "Open Book one has a choice between three OCR applications:
Fine Reader;
Omni Page;
Recognita.

For accuracy it is suggested to select Fine Reader, but then the scanning
process is of course slower than when Omni Page or Recognita is selected.

I have now also downloaded a 15 day trial version of Fine Reader, but I do
not find it as streamlined and easy to work with in the Jaws environment
than is the case with "open Book.

There is of course a huge difference in price between Fine Reader and "open
Book.

I shall really appreciate help/input from a Jaws user who have experience
in using Fine Reader and Open Book.

Although it is not my "feeling" right now, perhaps I can get away with a
cheaper product like Fine Reader instead of buying the quite expensive "open
Book?

Renette
