Bill,Just curious, do you use the JAWS Laptop keyboard layout on your Lenovo X200? If not, how did you handle turning the JAWS and PC cursors on and routing them to each other. I found that the FN key didn't allow me to do this as it had on other laptops I've used. I love this laptop, it is so small and lightweight but still has a full size keyboard. Since I use it often to write JAWS scripts and I don't care for using the JAWS Laptop Keyboard settings, I ended up changing the JAWS and PC Cursors and the routing to different keystrokes. The size and weight of this computer make it very convenient. I also found out that it is pretty durable, it has fallen out of chairs and off tables a time or two and keeps on ticking.

I'm using a Lenovo X200, works well with JAWS. Have used HP, Dell, Gatewayin past, been happiets with this machine, and my last HP. A general rule of thumb I've adoptted and seems to work, look for themachine that has the internal specs you want and less buzzers and bells on the outside. You want power and capacity, you don't need marvie graphics andlots of pretty touch pad controls. Most sound systems are up to the task these days so long as they aremainstream, and good accessible volume controls are handy. Have to think about the graphics card a bit, but again that is becoming lessof an issue as most mainstream units work fine with JAWS. For me a big deal was the comfort with the keyboard size and layout. Some laptop mfrs get pretty off the wall in the keyboard layouts, some little bitty keys, some things located where it would make no sense unless you can see it, etc. that is one of the real strong features of the Lenovo, it has a fantastic keyboard, full sized keys, logical layout etc. Dell's are pretty decent as well, depending on the machine. Toshiba has been getting a bitsquirly with their layouts as well as HP. Bottom line, decide what you want and get your hands on one to feel it up.Good luck.-----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Hallsworth Sent: Sunday, November 29, 2009 1:24 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: Jaws And Laptop Computers Acers work really well with JAWS. So do HP and Toshiba. It's best to shop around, contact your JAWS dealer and enquire on any known issues on the laptop(s) you're interested in, and so on. Hope this helps. Good luck in the research. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Geoff Connor Sent: 29 November 2009 20:50 To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Jaws And Laptop Computers Hi all. I am using Jaws 11 and I'm thinking about purchasing a laptop computer. This will be my first one so I'm going to be taking my time and doing some looking around. There are a number of different brands of computers out there and my question is, What brands work the best with Jaws? Any help would be appreciated. Geoff No virus found in this outgoing message.
