Troy,After playing around in the properties of the JAWS Desktop icon a little more in both JAWS 8.0 and 9.0, I discovered that after typing j into the shortcut key field, just pressing Enter rather than tabbing to the OK button keeps the key setting. For some reason, pressing Tab or Shift+Tab makes the Shortcut field revert to None. Interestingly enough, this doesn't happen when using JAWS 6.X or other screen readers to set the shortcut key.

Hi All,Has anybody been able to set a hot key on Jaws 8 and it actually sticks andworks? I never had trouble setting hot keys before Jaws 8 but I've always had trouble setting a hot key for Jaws 8, and according to a tech support person at Freedom Scientific today it's a Windows problem and not a Jawsproblem. I might believe that if I have always had trouble even with otherversions of Jaws, but today I was even trying to set the hot key on my new laptop that I just got a couple of days ago and I couldn't make it work soto me that shoots a hole in the theory of it being a Windows problem smile.Troy -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.comJFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxTo unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.Archives located at: //www.freelists.org/archives/jfwIf you have any concerns about the list, post received from the list, or the way the list is being run, do not post them to the list.
