Hi, I too am very dissapointed with the most recent update as jaws is still very slow making typing characters difficult if I want to hear what I have typed. Strangely it speeds up slightly whenever vidio or music is in use. When I contacted FS for support I was told the issue was being worked on and basically for the moment I just had to turn off typing echo. Unfortunately the issue is still there and there is no garantee it will be fixed in version 9. Thanks everyone on this list who have tried to give me some ideas. And I would be greatful if anyone has any other suggestions as at the moment I am using my old desktop instead of the brand new laptop which I purchased. So far I am dissapointed with both version 8 of Jaws and the support I have received when submitting questions and bug reports to FS. I believe we should expect more from such an expensive product which has at times claimed to be the most high quality screenreader out there. Dialogs still don't read correctly without having to use the jaws cursor. performance is very sluggish in windows mail and functionality in Windows mail is extremely poor. I have to continually close messages and re open them to get them to read. My mail status says something like 1 messages un reads. Did someone make a mistake in grammar here? In the volume controls dialog the reading is still read opposite of the correct amount example if it's set at 90 percent jaws says 10 percent if you press insert up arrow to get the status of the slider. Also when you try to change the volume rapidly by up or down arrowing it tries to spell the value out still as it did in beta 2. And I've been in the final release for 10 minutes now. Wonder what I'll find out after a day or two. Sorry FS but I'm very disappointed with the final release of Jaws and will use someone else's reader for Vista till it's fixed properly. I'll be putting up a podcast on my website probably next week showing the problems I've found in this release. I'm sorry but this release for Vista just doesn't cut it and lags far behind Window Eyes or System access.
