I don't know Earle, I would check the settings tab in the display properties
and see what colors you are using (16 bit or 32 bit). It sounds like maybe
your video drivers are corrupted, but then it seems like you would be having
more problems than just with menus.

I just tried using no background, and I'm still getting the same results.
I've made sure, that the program is maximized. This problem is happening,
in all of my programs. I also tried going back to Jaws 5, and I still have
the problem.

Try changing your background to none instead of bliss.

Debbie, I'm using the windows classic scheme, and I'm using Windows standard
colors. I also tried the windows xp scheme as well. I'm using the bliss
background, and the stretch position, with a normal font.

What appearance color scheme are you using?

JAWS can't read menus when the Windows XP Silver appearance scheme is used.

I have recently installed, Jaws 5.10, and Windows Xp service pack 2. I have
noticed, that if I hit the alt key, to bring up the menu bar, it won't read
the menus. I can't use my up and down arrows to get into the menus, or my
right and left arrows, to look at the menu bar. I have to use my Jaws
cursor, or use a short cut key to get into a menu, such as, alt-f for file.
I think I have all the display settings set correctly.

Just wondering, if there's something I'm not thinking of.

Earle
