Shown below are some helpful steps in getting the Outlook Calendar in XP
(Don't know if that is 2003) to work:

The Outlook Calendar lets you set up appointments, meetings, and events.
The
default view of the calendar is inaccessible. This will cover the
calendar in
Outlook and creating an accessible view.
To go to the calendar in outlook, press alt v for the view menu, then
press
g for the go to command and then c for calendar. Or you can arrow to
calendar in the tree view of your folders.
To create an accessible calendar.
1. Open the Calendar as described above.
2. Press Alt + V to open the View menu.
3. Press Enter on the Current View command.
4. Press the up arrow key twice to select the Define Views command and
hit
enter.
5. A Define View for Calendar dialog box will begin, press alt + n for
the
new button.
6. A Create a New View dialog will begin. Type in a name for the view,
for
example, All Appointments.
Press Tab to move to the Type of View and arrow down to table. Tab
again to
the group of radio buttons for can be used on. Then down arrow twice to
the
select all appointments folders radio button. Press enter.
7. The View Summary dialog will begin. Press Space on the Fields
button.
The Show Fields dialog will begin. You can specify which fields you
want to
include in your Calendar. Press Alt + O to move to the list of default
fields.
Down arrow and press alt + r to remove fields you don't want. It is
suggested
To keep only Subject, Location, Start, and End. Tab to okay and hit
enter.
8. You will be back at the view summary dialog, tab to okay and hit
enter.
9. You will be back at the define views for calendar dialog, press
enter on
the apply view button.
10. Your new calendar view "All Appointments" will be displayed. When
you
choose the Table option, your calendar activities will be listed just
like your
messages in the Inbox.

I'm about to get Outlook 2003, so perhaps I can be of more help soon (in
case it's that different from 2002). I think this discussion needs to
take place on the list for the benefit of all.

For outlook 2002, it's easiest if you set your view to "active
appointments" so that they show up in a list format. Adding new
appointments is straightforward unless you need to make use of the
"schedule a meeting" feature in a corporate environment (with an
exchange server).

I also find that it's easier to turn off autopreview and the preview
pane.

hth,

Chip
