I have to agree with David's assessment; video problems are evident as soon as you start the pc, not after some use. I'd have to suspect something else, perhaps some other piece of software. Did Dell pre-load the pc with any sort of "automated support" type of software that runs at startup? My comcast cable modem at home did that, and I found that automated software was using a great deal of resources, for no apparent reason, so I uninstalled it. Things have been much faster since I did that. I'd also run some anti-spiware software (like adaware or spibot) just to make sure you don't have some unwanted guests!! Finally, I'd try disabling your anti-virus software for a while to see if the problem goes away. Some AV software can be quite a drain on the system, especially if set to scan every file upon every access. hth, Chip > -----Original Message----- > From: Anna K Byrne [mailto:annakb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Wednesday, December 10, 2003 10:22 AM > To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: RE: [JFWlite] lap tops and Jaws. > > > Thanks, Chip.
