At the risk of belaboring a point where I can't be more specific, there's
more than one place to set plain text. You're saying that plain text works
for incoming and new messages. I wonder if there's another plain text
control in addition to the one you found that would solve this problem. My
recollection is that there are three HTML/plain text settings I had to
adjust to get all my email the way I wanted.

When I mentioned the adjust JAWS options dialog, I'm referring to what used
to be the JAWS verbosity dialog, still reached with insert-v.

I wouldn't try to repair JAWS for this. I feel confident the answer lies in
Outlook.

We tried several times to set the default to plain text instead of html and
it kept switching back on the messages that had been send in html. It could
maybe be coincidental that it happened after the two changes that I had made
yesterday morning. If it is not related to the two changes it is odd that it
all started yesterday morning.

JFW works correctly when I send out a message and receive messages that are
not in html format.

I could not find how to 'adjust' or 'repair' jaws. Can you tell me how to
do that?

Thanks,

Eileen,

Have you taken note of where you make the change from HTML to plain text?
It's been a while since I went through this in Outlook 2003 (I know you have
2007), but I recall the process was more complex than I'd expected. I can't
recall specifics, but they might be as obvious, or not, as using plain text
in new messages as well as replies, for reading incoming messages, etc. It's
hard for me to believe that Adobe 8 would be the culprit, and I'm also a
little skeptical about the other screenreader whose name shall not be
spoken! It may be worth a detailed tour of tools/options and possibly also
the adjust JAWS options dialog to ensure you've covered all the
possibilities.

Then I guess NVDA was a big mistake?

Do the restore back to before NVDA and then install Adobe, and pass on the
N-word.

We tried that and there was no change. We also found a reference to NVDA in
the registry and removed it still with no change.

Try uninstalling Adobe Reader 8 and see if there is any change.

Cheers.

Subject: JFW problem in Outlook 2007

Hi,

I have been testing NVDA on another very non-robust computer and using JFW
on my main computer. I am doing a comparison of the two screen readers.

This morning we put NVDA on my main computer and also this morning we
upgraded to Adobe Reader 8. Now in OutLook 2007 I cannot reply to some of my
email messages. I can reply to some, but not all. On the ones that I cannot
reply it is because JFW thinks that we are in a website. When I put a 't' he
says table and when I do an 'h' he says no headings found. So therefore, I
cannot respond to these people. But other emails I can respond to and I
cannot figure out the difference between them and why it has started today.

I un-instaled NDVA in case that was the problem and the problem presists. So
I don't know if it caused some problem that the un-instaling didn't take
away or if the problem is the upgrading ofAdobe Reader 8.

We noticed that the default in Outlook 2007 had changed to html and we
changed it to plain text, but it changed itself back each time we went into
a message and tried to do a reply.

I am using JFW version 11.

Any suggestions?
