I did have some one come and look at the computer and there was a conflict 
with the drivers and so that had to be repaired by getting new Windows XP 
drivers, plus a lot of clean up of the system.
Thanks for the help you provided
 it was something I will keep for future problems, although I am not looking 
for any future problems, trust me!
