If you just installed/upgraded Norton anti-virus, that might be the
culprit. When Jfw and Word 2000 showed those symptoms on my computer, the
short term fix was to minimize all aps with Windows key-m, then alt-tab
back to Word and all was well. the long term fix was go into Norton,
options, miscellaneous, and uncheck the tab that says something about the
office plug-in.

If the behavior isn't consistent, though--if it's different with different
documents--check the font. JFW likes Aerial and Times New Roman really
well, and some it doesn't like. also be sure the color isn't white on
white, or something else that JFW can't see.

Good luck!
