Hello
Well I spoke of having a External Hard Drive and using Casper the Back up software, so here is some of what I have done.
I ordered a 120 Gig External Hard Drive for either Firewire or USB2, I use the USB2 port.
and Iomega is where I ordered the Hard Drive

As I said I was able to install the Hard Drive and install Casper using JFW.
Casper is only for Windows XP
Casper URL is

but Future Systems makes a program called Drive to Drive for Windows 98:

Setting up the Casper back up program is very simple using JFW, as I said I did it my self.
When you start up Casper it is just a question of following the bouncing ball, you are taken from step to step all read by JFW. You get a Casper Manual which I use in case of any questions.
Casper would prefer you to have a second hard drive in the computer so that if a problem occurred you could just swap the 2 hard drives and boot up on the second drive and remove the first hard drive if it failed and if it was a software or virus problem then you could reformat the old drive.
Windows XP will not let you boot to a external hard drive, but you could take it to a computer shop and they could put the copy from the external hard drive on a new hard drive and you would be up and running.
You can also boot of the Windows XP CD and then access the external hard drive and using Casper put the external drives contents to the machines hard drive and then remove the Windows XP CD and reboot.
So there is some need for a sighted person, but your system would be safe along with your data!
Dick
