I have the parallel cable, but there is no parallel port on my computer, and
they said they do not support a parallel/USB adaptor.So I am wondering if
this makes it sluggish or something.

According to Freedom Scientific, there is a null-modem parallel cable they
will provide for use with the power braille under windows seven. Contact
them and find out of 64-bit as opposed to 32-bit is an issue.
