Juan Pablo,

Seems that I heard something about that and tried it with no success.

Also what really ticks me off is that they managed to remove the capability of
checking the monitor cells, in addition to still not having a way to read the
top four cells in a column. These capabilities are either removed from the
script file, or the keys are no longer assigned to the script functions. Check
it out if you have a moment.

I'm not sure I want to try the "new and improved" Excel interface just yet.
Took me 3 hours to undo the install of the JFW 12.0.1183.

I'm perfectly happy at this point with 12.0.525, thank you.

Most notably, I see that FS expects us to undo any incompatibilities they
introduce. Here is the technical note I received from FS Support, and it
appears to contradict what you advised that I do. Perhaps you know better than
FS how to "fix" JFW 12.0.1183?

****** start of technical note ******

Excel support has been redesigned for a more responsive and accurate
experience. This redesign will affect customized Excel settings files
created with versions of JAWS prior to 12.0. Update 1 (v. 12.0.1183,
released April 2011). These changes affect the customized settings files
for Excel 2003 or later. If you have customized a few Excel settings,
you can re-create those customizations manually. However, if you have a
large number of customizations, don't remember them all, or someone else
generated them for you, you can re-label them for use with JAWS 12.0
Update 1 and later. The following instructions are for use with Excel
customized-settings such as configuration files created by the Settings
Center (JCF), structured Braille files created by the Settings Center
(JBS), dictionary entries created through Dictionary Manager (JDF),
special frames for Excel (JFF), or labeled graphics (JGF):

Open the Start Menu and navigate to: All Programs/JAWS12.0/Explore
JAWS/Explore My Settings.
Rename the files Microsoft Excel.jbs, Microsoft Excel.jcf, Microsoft
Excel.jdf, Microsoft Excel.jgf, and Microsoft Excel.jff to excel.jbs,
excel.jcf, excel.jdf, excel.jgf, and excel.jff respectively. If the old
file name included the version of Excel, such as Microsoft excel
2007.jdf, the version part is no longer required. Such a file should be
renamed simply excel.jdf.
Notes:

If you are using Excel XP or earlier, you do not need to rename your
customized Excel files.
The files referred to here do not include any JSI files for Excel from
your PersonalizedSettings folder. If you have customized script files
that utilized the JSS files prior to installing 12.0 Update 1, or if you
have customized JSI files for Excel in your PersonalizedSettings folder,
do not make the changes described in this article. It is also not
recommended that you rename JKM files in the manner described here.

Go to your shared settings and find a files calles excel.*
Rename it to microsoft excel 2007.* and microsoft excel 2010.*

Most recent for now. There is a beta available directly from the FS web
site, but I advise staying away from it for now, as I found some serious issues
with it already just using Excel.

I have been watching my JAWS 12 check for updates by way of the help
menu. and so for it has not come up.
I am using JAWS version 12.5.25 on my Windows 7 Home Premium machine. It
seems to work pretty well.
This version is what is listed on About JAWS.

      Perhaps the update happened automatically?
Or should I say, is this the most recent version?

      Thanks.
