Dave,
I know this is off topic, but John Jameson’s might be your bottle of choice, if
you can afford it. Uncle John comes dear, but is smooth going down, unlike
bourbon.

Clark,

Well, now that's encouraging. I may have to give that a try, since it was not
suggested by FS to do so. First I'll back up everything (no fool I) and set a
restore point (ditto). Then remove JAWS 12 completely and install JFW 12.0.1158
from scratch.

I'll start right in, when I have a couple hours to spare and a bottle of
something 25 years old to calm my nerves during the process.

  Folks,

When I updated to the latest version via the update feature, I suffered most
of the problems described here and in earlier posts. I uninstalled JAWS and
did a clean install of JAWS 12.0.1158, and have suffered NO problems; internet
explorer or Excel.

With my new computer I find Internet Explorer 8 less and less responsive. 3
different sites I’ve had to install FireFox to even use them. I won’t install
the new JAWS update b/c of its issues with Excel, which I still have to use at
least for now.
Can I use Internet Explorer 9 with Jaws 12.0.525?

try windows key plus E then - this should open explorer in windows 7. If you
aren't already familiar with the explorer interface, it would be worth taking
some time to become familiar.

  Try this:

hit Windows key plus 2 to go to Windows Explorer.
Locate on your hard drive a file with an extension similar to the kind of
file you are opening in IE 9 (such as .wav, .mp3, .wma, etc). Right click this
file with the Jaws curser (brings up the context menu). Scroll down to the
"open with sub menu" option. Right arrow to open this menu. Then select the
option "choose default program..."

From there, select WinAmp as the desired default program for that file type.

If you don't know the exact file type you are trying to play through IE 9 -
then you may need to set Winamp as the default for several different file types
before it works as desired.

  I hope this helps,
  Bill

Do not get the message of opening IE 9 and going to application and select
winamp.
