Hello Cher.
I could not get Jaws to do is you want using the color gray. However I did
get Jaws to do is you want while using the color blue. If you can send me a
sample document using the color gray that you use I will be glad to try and
get Jaws to work with it.
I will also be happy to send you the document and the scheme that I created
so you can see how Jaws should work while recognizing background colors.

I'll check on that. I had assumed that the color options were just looking
at the foreground color.

Hello.
Have you tried looking through the list of schemes? I think you might want
one of the schemes that detects colors. It would notify you when the color
changed from something like black on white to black on gray.

We have a policy manual with text marked with strikeout and with gray
shading. The counselor must be able to tell immediately when these effects
are in effect as JAWS reads the text. I found the strikethrough effect in
the Sounds Manager, but the only shaded effect I can find is on the Misc
tab- and I could not get it to speak with a different voice. I hope someone
can help.
