I've never had trouble reading a document with track changes on. JAWS, however, routinely causes my computer to crash hard when I try to insert or edit comments. To see if it is a global problem, create something in NotePad. Then, try to load it. If that doesn't read properly, the problem isn't track changes or comments. Go to your View Menu and make sure no panes are turned on. The Task Pane will cause problems. While you are at it, make sure Normal View is checked. Then within the settings, be sure the style area width is set to 0. I can guarantee bad results if this gets set much larger. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Starrett, Kimberly A., VBAPHILSDT Sent: Thursday, May 19, 2011 1:43 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: JAWS not reading any text There have been times when I've seen a similar thing with Jaws 11 and 12. I'm thinking it had to do with the presence of comments in the document I was trying to read. Try checking to see if track changes is turned on. If it is, turn it off and see what you get. If you have an earlier version of Jaws, say 9 or 10, try reading the document with an earlier version.
