If you run the jaws for dos installer, it should create a bat file. What you then do in windows .98 is to set up a command prompt they call it a dos prompt I believe to accept a batch file and use jaws.bat which was created when you installed jaws for dos on the system to launch when dos is envoked and also, if you choose to have the pc start up in dos mode, jaws will talk then. You have to make sure that the mode of communication for the accent sa matches the mode of your com port and when you install jaws for dos, you need to specify the correct parameters and synth. I'm trying to get JAWS for DOS talking through an Accent SA in the DOS box of Windows 98 SE. Does anyone know the line that has to be entered in the system.ini file to specify a TSR under the Non Windows apps heading. It's something like, TSR=j_acntsa but I'm not certain.
