Apparently the hotel proxy was causing the problem. The helpdesk wasn't able to tell me why exactly, but some pages get dropped by the proxy in a way that causes browsers to try to continually reload the page.

They were very helpful and removed me from the proxy.

Thanks,
Everett

The hotel proxy could be causing this problem.

Subject: JAWS behind hotel proxy

Good morning,

I am experiencing some very strange behaviour with JAWS on a hotel wireless LAN. Wondering if anyone has ever experienced anything similar.

1. Running JAWS 9.x, XP Professional (SP2) and Internet Explorer 7 / Firefox 3.
2. Opened a web page http://globeandmail.com .
3. Internet Explorer makes a continual clicking sound like a new page is being loaded and the browser locks up. I can strangely go back to the prior page using ALT + left arrow, but cannot stop the clicking with the escape key. 4. Same behaviour in firefox (repeated clicking from the web visum plugin). 5. This does not happen on all sites, but does on quite a few, 20% perhaps. 6. The behaviour happens with JAWS and Narrator, but not with Window Eyes or with no assistive technology running.

All pages over this hotels wireless LAN are running through a proxy that puts them in a frame. the top part of the frame is advertisement I expect (inaccessible) and the bottom part is the page I am trying to load.

Any thoughts on this strange problem?

Thanks,
Everett
