Hi,We have Embarq as our land line DSL carrier and also have a "outside master filter" installed by the technician. We do not need any individual phone filters. The line is very quiet and have not had any problems.

Hello Tom: I am not sure what type of filter it is.All I can tell you, is that this type of filter, replaces the need to have a filter attached to phones, etc., that you might have connected to your phoneline. The master filter, for I cannot think of a better name for it, worked betterthan the individual filters we were using before. By the way, we used Earthlink before we used Verizon. At present, we are using Earthlink through our cable company. I cannot wait for Verizon, or another company to install FIOS in our neighborhood. Did they run aseparate line from your network interface box outside? They'd almost haveto, because the DSL signal is not present in the phone line once it has passed through a filter. Of course, it could be a different type offilterthey used, that does not attenuate this signal. But then there wouldn'tbemuch point in having the pre-filter at all -- unless it was the sort of filter that weakens the signal a little but does not completely eliminate it. Curious.
