Tom,

In print layout view you can use Alt + DownArrow or Alt + UpArrow to
cycle between the tops of the columns on the current page. These Word
keystrokes conflict with the JAWS keystrokes to read sentences, so
you'll need to use the bypass key, Insert + 3, before either of them.

To confirm which column I'm in, I have to use Insert + F1. This is
because the usual methods of finding my place in a document, Insert +
PageDown to read the status line or Insert + Delete to give line and
column only, both take their information from the status line, and on my
PC anyway the status line says "col 1" whichever column I'm in! Maybe
your PC will behave better.

Steve

Hey all,
How do you get JAWS 8 and 9 to work with multi-column Word documents?
I'm talking about Word documents with multiple newspaper-style columns.
Say-all's not a problem. Suppose, though, that you want to move
directly from one column to the next or go to a specific column on a
specific page. I can't find any reference to this in the JAWS help
anywhere; the only thing I can find with respect to columns deals with
table reading, and that's clearly not what I'm after.
