Let the text become an only-one column. So:

1. select the entire file with the standard windows commands... shift-ctrl-end,
edit menu, select all and so on.
2. choose columns from the format menu.
3. type 1 in the edit box. Then ok.

I'm wondering if your files come from a fine reader scan.
If so, but also not, the advice for pasting properly text into Microsoft Word
after Fine Reader scans, is to send all pages to clipboard instead directly to
Word. Afterwards, text can be pasted in a new Word file with a normal ctrl-v.

Greetings
