Thanks very much, Steve. There is an FN key on my keyboard. I have a Dell
Inspiron B130, I think it is. I'll hang on to these and I'm sure it will
help. Thanks again.

Cindy

Cindy,

I have a Dell Latitude D420 laptop, and to the right of the Control key
at the bottom left corner of the keyboard is a key marked Fn. I can use
this as a modifier together with other keys on the keyboard to emulate
the num pad keys. Here's a list of the other keys I need:

0 for NumPad slash (left mouse click)
P for NumPad star (right mouse click)
Semi-colon for NumPad minus (JAWSCursor)
Slash for NumPad Plus (PC cursor)
7, 8 and 9 stand in for Home, UpArrow and PageUp
u, I and o for LeftArrow, NumPad 5 and RightArrow
j, k and l for end, DownArrow and PageDown
m and period are marked as though they should emulate the NumPad insert
and delete keys, but they don't.

I can also press Fn and F4 to turn NumLock on and off; only when it is
off do the above descriptions apply.

Lastly, if there is an Fn key on your keyboard but none of the rest
applies, you can turn keyboard help on with Insert + 1, then go around
the keyboard and see which keys do work!

Steve

Subject: JAWS Laptop Keyboard Layout keys

I have a Dell laptop and installed JAWS 8 on it. I've set it up to use
the
laptop keyboard layout. Although I've been able to figure out some
things,
I still don't know how to emulate the num pad keys.

I'm trying to use E-Backup to copy my OE and Favorites from my desktop
to
the laptop. I've copied the files onto an external hard drive, but
can't
figure out how to get them from the hard drive to the laptop. It's the
free
version of E-Backup and, on the desktop, I used the num pad and mouse
buttons to click the buttons I needed.

If anyone can help with this, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Cindy
