Hi,

I have noticed this quite a bit and have done some testing as follows.

On my desktop I timed JAWS 6 start up with a stop watch and it took anywhere
from 1 minute 7 seconds to 1 minute 12 seconds. On my Portico laptop it
took anywhere from 2 minutes 55 seconds to 3 minutes 25 seconds at first.
Now, for no reason I can figure it now takes about the same time it took on
my desktop. I have a friend with a Compaq EVO which takes about 1 minute 25
seconds. The other night I was working with a woman with a Del which took
over 2 minutes. I have another laptop which was built locally which only
takes 26 seconds to start JAWS 6. This is an issue which needs to be looked
at because more than a minute or two is really unacceptable.

Karl

Subject: JAWS 6 slow start

Hi,
The other night I installed JAWS 6 on my Dell 4100 running Windows ME and
like it so far, except for one thing. It takes a good minute or two to come
up after I hear the Windows intro music. It's set to start automatically. I
did some digging around in the Registry, as I'm not afraid to do such
things, and I noticed that the call to JFW is placed in the run_services
area instead of run_once or run_once_exe as was done in the past. Anybody
else notice this?

Tom
