HI,
Here is some information on Itunes and the user list that supports it.

John

HI,
As promised, I now have a web page up and running which contains so far a
list of links to further resources you can consult about iPods, iTunes and
useful software to support other portable media devices. Descriptions of
players and other resources will follow shortly. But there are links to
plenty of material to read and listen to so far, and it is a link I shall
point people to when they subscribe to the list.
Suggestions for other links to resources would be more than welcomed, and I
shall put them on the page very quickly.

Accessible Interface for the iTunes Software
ITunes from Apple is a piece of software which offers music lovers who either own or do not own one of the Ipod products a vast variety of features and
facilities which turn the computer into an incredible music management system.
However unfortunately the ITunes software is probably one of the most inaccessible pieces of software from a Visually Impaired persons perspective with
much of the screen activity being unrecognizable by even the most advanced Screen Readers.
However thanks to the talent and creativity of one of the T&T Team, Brian Hartgen, the above is no longer the case.
We have developed an interface to the ITunes software which using JAWS For Windows brings this amazing piece of software to life for Visually Impaired computer
users.
Through the use of easy to remember keystrokes using the combination of the ITunes software and the ITunes JAWS interface you can:
List of 9 items
* Import individual music tracks, complete CD's, or Audio Books into the ITunes Library.
* Have CD album names and track titles automatically identified and announced.
* Easily transfer music or audio books to either the IPod or IPod Shuffle. JAWS will automatically announce when the transfer process begins and ends.
* Organize music into "play lists" enabling sequences of tracks to be played from the computer or IPod.
* Have tracks played randomly from the computer. The playback can be paused or re-started, with the adjustable music volume control being independent of
the JAWS speech system.
* Impress your friends by organizing music mixes in a variety of ways and play them at parties or other family type get together. While "Party Shuffle"
is in progress, JAWS can announce upcoming songs which the computer has selected to play.
* Access other facilities within the ITunes software through easy to remember key strokes and sequences.
* Take advantage of the Help System which groups together keystrokes according to tasks.
* Benefit from documentation to accompany the interface which has been written in an easy-to-understand manner.

How it Works
The JAWS ITunes interface can be purchased at the cost of £30, which is $45 USC. However prior to parting with your money you may well want to sample the
scripts to get a feel for what they do and how they make ITunes Visually Impaired Friendly.
The scripts can be downloaded along with a trial authorization which will be automatically installed as part of the installation process. This permits
the interface to run for 10 minute periods, and for the product to work again the computer will need to be rebooted.
When downloading please be sure to select the version of the interface which corresponds to the version of JAWS which is to be used. Additionally you
will need to ensure you have the latest version of the ITunes software.
Please use this link to obtain iTunes and to find out more information about it:

Subject: JAWS crashes while using ipodder

Hello,
I downloaded Ipodder 2.1 so that I could listen to Disney podcasts on
my computer. I work for disney which has nothing to do with my Ipod problem.
when I press enter on the iPpodder application JAWS stops talking. My
girlfriend looked at the screen when this occured and Ipodder had not
finished loading yet. Everything froze and although JAWS shut down I
couldn't bring it back up again. I got a run time error and had to
reboot my computer. I think JAWS automatically shut down and when I
tried to bring it back with alt control j I got the run time error on
the screen and JAWS did not come back up. I even tried bringing up
JAWS 6.1 without success.
This problem does not always happen, sometimes when Ipodder 2.1
finishes loading JAWS speaks and everything is fine.
But the crashes happen most of the time and I have to do a hard
reboot in order to get speech back.
Attempting to alt f4 to close down the application does no good
everything is frozen.
I'm using XP with JAWS 6.2 on a very new and fast HP computer.

I would consider using Itunes with JAWS but I've heard that
it isn't very accessible.

Thank You for your attention and any suggestions you can make.

Are there scripts for the Itunes program, and where can they be downloaded.

Also, is anyone successfully purchasing music from the Itunes music store? How about Napster? Or, what legal downloading services are people using out there with JFW?

Thanks.
