Troy, Okay. I was just trying to figure out how this could happen. Because, despite what some people have said, there certainly are a few keys you can cause to repeat when held down or turn off the repeating function, but they don't include ordinary alphanumeric keys, just certain symbols. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Troy Burnham" <homerun@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, November 17, 2008 8:22 AM Subject: Re: Is this a Jaws problem? I realize this is getting off topic but I'll answer the question and then will drop it, I mean that I press either an i, an o, or a u and before I let up on the key it sometimes will have typed two of that letter instead of one which is what I wanted. It could be a keyboard problem and I do have another keyboard that I'll try and see if it is any better, but it may very well also be a neurological problem, at least I won't rule that out completely although I'm not striking the key twice, I'm apparently just not letting up on it quick enough at times. If it is neurological though, even if it is all in my right hand it seems strange that it's only with those 3 letters and not with everything I type with that hand. Troy, What good would it do if you could stop jaws speaking the second instance of the character you'd somehow typed twice? It would still be typed twice, but now you'd be obligated to reread every word you wrote in order to find and delete such duplications, either manuallly or by using spell check, even if you wouldn't have bothered, ordinarily. Also, you say this happens because you're "heavy fingered," suggesting that you can't manage to lift your finger off the key before it repeats. Well, most keys on your keyboard are *not* repeating characters. So do you mean that you somehow type letters and numbers twice, lifting your finger after having depressed the key once, and then striking it a second time? That sounds not like having a heavy finger but more like a neurological problem or the shakes. Maybe this is something to look into with a doctor? Just running through the possibilities. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Troy Burnham" <homerun@xxxxxxxxx> To: "jfw" <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, November 17, 2008 5:33 AM Subject: Is this a Jaws problem? Hello All, For quite a while now I have been getting a lot of double letters in words when I'm typing, especially the letters i, o, and u. It seems like most of the time when I go to type one of those 3 letters I'll end up with 2 of the same letter instead of one. I know that this is just due to heavy fingers but is there any adjustment I can make in Jaws to keep this from happening?
