Hi Daniel,

First of all, I find it very strange that you and I can be looking at the
same
tab controls and you have trouble with them, and I do not. Very odd. Well,
I
Don't know if this will be of any help, but the settings that are for E-mail
are
controlled with the alt E command. The news groups settings are controlled
with
the Alt N command. I don't know if this will be of any help to you or not.

Hi,
As I wrote last night, I have one problem with navigating this menu and
achieving this modification to the appearance of quoted material in my email
replies and forwards. A few questions, not just to Terrilynn but to anyone
knowledgeable:

First of all, and most important, this menu area doesn't appear clearly for
me using Jaws. If it did, tabbing ore arrowing down the items in the Send
tab would make it clear that there were two groups of options you can modify
here. One is for newsgroups, and the other is for your email. In both
cases, there's a pair of radio buttons to choose whether you wish messages
of that category to be sent plain text or HTML. And then there's a button
for a settings submenu for each, in which is found the setting being
discussed here. But the first problem is that using the PC cursor, tab key
and arrow keys, Jaws isn't able to tell you which of these areas is which.
It just says "radio button HTML" and "radio button Plain Text" and then
"settings..." (the dots indicating you'll get a submenu if you press Enter)
and no announcement that one group of these things is for governing the
appearance of outgoing newsgroup messages and the other for outgoing email
messages.

The other problem is that I just want to be sure I understand why plain text
settings are the only ones being discussed here. Is it that you can't
achieve the same removal of characters preceding quoted lines in an HTML
message? Or is it just that people discussing this on this mailing list
assume that all of us use plain text for outgoing messages?

Last, it's not clear to me, and I don't know how I could ascertain this
without sighted help, whether unchecking this box only prevents the
insertion of start-of-line characters such as the greater than mark, or also
prevents the indentation of the quoted material? Ideally, I would like to
be able to dump the beginning of line mark, but retain the indentation,
which is of some immediate benefit to a sighted recipient because it
signals, without their having to look directly at the quoted text but just
peripherally signals them what it is. Well, I'll admit, the presence of
headers, if you don't delete the headers in the process, is a clear enough
signal that the next stuff is quoted. But I like the orderly effect of the
indentation, which I can no longer see because of central vision loss that
prevents me reading, but know others can, and can visualize.

So does the indentation disappear along with those characters? I'd rather
have a choice, if possible.
