The information bar comes up when internet explorer wants to warn you about something such as a pop up or a download triggered by a web site. What the information bar alerts you to, depends on how high you have your security set in internet explorer.

When it alerts you to something it makes a sound which is quite obvious.

When you here this press ALT + NO. This then places you in the information bar.

Then press SPACE BAR and this brings up a context menu with options which you can up and down using the arrow keys through.

If you press ALT + NO when the information bar isn't displaying anything you just get a pinging sound.

Peter

Oh. alt n plus the space bar? But only when you receive a notice, I suppose? Otherwise it won't do anything? Wouldn't you suppose the space bar press has
to do with activating a control in response to some option offered? Hmm.

I might be able to help you. Actually, merely pressing alt won't do it.
Apparently, from what I'e read in the JAWS help file, alt n then pressing
the space bar should give you the menu. I know, it's not very well
explained, and they really should do some work on it to give a tutor message
or something there, but that's theoretically how it should work. Mark

Hi Jeffrey,

I'm relatively new to IE 7, and still in the process of finding my way
around it with Jaws. What sort of notification are you referring to
where,
as I'm guessing may happen, you are presented with some kind of dialogue
with a couple of controls in it, including one for accessing the
Information
Bar for some reason, which you can activate with Alt N if you don't wish
to
tab to the control and press enter? I'm just imagining something like that
because, after reading your message below, I went to IE where I already
have
a Web page open, and pressed Alt N, thinking that this would take me to
something in the Information Bar. But since Alt N had no effect at all,
I'm
guessing that what you're referring to must be some kind of special
situation to which Alt N is one available response.

Would you mind explaining what sort of notification and scenario you're
referring to?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I don't know if you can rename the buttons that you want to rename in IE.
However, when you get a notification in the Information Bar, you can just
press Alt + N to go to the information bar and get a menu with choices
that
let you decide what you want to do if something is blocked by IE.
HTH,
Jeffrey

Hi

Can I put a name or rename a button? When I press insert F5 in internet
explorer, I just get the 1,2,3. buttons. Are those numbers really the
label
of the buttons? And, how do you deal with the information bar? I mean, is
there a keystroke for that?

Jouie
