Jim,

Okay. So, first, the bar has to have been activated by the right kind of
event. And then pressing alt n gets you into it, but you gotta press
spacebar in order to get Jaws to cfocus within that field, and then you
canarrow among the controls. sort of?

Thanks.

While you are on the page hitting alt n at any time will take you to the
information bar if the bar has a reason to be there. Pressing space on
the button jaws will read to you having the focus a context menu will
open where you can select what you want to have happen.

Adrian,
In other words, in the absence of an event like the below, the keystroke

does nothing? Also, when I do occasionally hear that IE has blocked a
pop-up
and then hear a message telling me what to do if I wish to see it, is it

then that if I very quickly press alt n, I'll reach some sort of control
to
use to say yes I want to see this pop-up? I've never responded to one of

those notices, so I don't even know if the response remains available
for
more than a few seconds.

but mainly, if alt n will not simply take you to the Information Bar, is
the
Information Bar a real screen element that's always there, as is the
Tool
Bar? Or is it a sort of mini command center that comes onscreen only if
you
click something with a mouse or press alt n upon receiving some sort of
notice?

Thanks.

From what Jeffrey says, alt-n brings up the information bar when IE
blocks something, such as a popup. JAWS alerts us when that occurs.

Hi Jeffrey,

I'm relatively new to IE 7, and still in the process of finding my way
around it with Jaws. What sort of notification are you referring to
where, as I'm guessing may happen, you are presented with some kind of
dialogue with a couple of controls in it, including one for accessing
the Information Bar for some reason, which you can activate with Alt N
if you don't wish to tab to the control and press enter? I'm just
imagining something like that because, after reading your message below,
I went to IE where I already have a Web page open, and pressed Alt N,
thinking that this would take me to something in the Information Bar.
But since Alt N had no effect at all, I'm guessing that what you're
referring to must be some kind of special situation to which Alt N is
one available response.

Would you mind explaining what sort of notification and scenario you're
referring to?

Thanks a lot.

Hi, I don't know if you can rename the buttons that you want to rename
in IE. However, when you get a notification in the Information Bar, you
can just press Alt + N to go to the information bar and get a menu with
choices that let you decide what you want to do if something is blocked
by IE. HTH, Jeffrey Check out my blog! The URL is

Hi

Can I put a name or rename a button? When I press insert F5 in internet
explorer, I just get the 1,2,3. buttons. Are those numbers really the
label of the buttons? And, how do you deal with the information bar? I
mean, is there a keystroke for that?
