Hello Dave, I have the windows update and Microsoft update shortcuts in my start menu. each of them takes me to a webpage to update the products. The problem is that once the page is opened, it says the page could not be displayed properly and to install the active x controls. to install the active x controls, right click the information bar and enter on install active x controls. The problem is that there is no information bar to right click. I have had sighted assistance and there is no information bar. If you hit alt and N there is no information bar. There is something wrong with my internet explorer or my active x controls. If you are questioning on seeing what you have for updatess in order to see them in your System Tray check your settings. In Control Panel in the tab for Add or Removal to see which button you have checked. If you have a question as to how to check for this information I'll be glad to walk you through. Good luck.
