MessageJohn, you could try the following. It's just a guess though, but worth a 
try.

Click on the Tools menu in internet explorer
click on 'Internet Options'
Go to the Security Tab
click on Custom
Then go down the tree to 'Download Signed ActiveX Controls'
Then go to Enable and make sure it is checked or press space bar on it.
Then click OK and Ok again.

  Good morning John:  I'm not sure that I following your last message here.  If 
you are questioning on seeing what you have for updatess in order to see them 
in your System Tray check your settings.  In Control Panel in the tab for Add 
or Removal to see which button you have checked.  If you have a question as to 
how to check for this information I'll be glad to walk you through.  Good luck.

    I uninstalled quick time and went to the Microsoft update page and still 
got the same message and there is still no information bar, so I guess I will 
just have to trust Microsoft's automatic updates to see me through.
