It's both. You can download music purchased from the iTunes store, as well as play media either stored on your computer or streamed from the internet. Hope this helps.

Hi,

please excuse my ignorance but is ITunes a software packa to allow you to purchase and download music from the web or is it software for actually playing the music? ----- Original Message ----- From: "CrisMunoz54" <crismunoz54@xxxxxxxxx>

Subject: ITunes 8 and accessibility

Hello list,

I don't know if anyone saw or has read the coverage of Apple's press
conference, but it looks like ITunes 8 is now accessible with screen
readers. In ITunes what's new section, among all the other new features, it
has a section on enhanced accessibility. It just states that ITunes now
works with Voice Over and Window Eyes on Macs and PC's. Being a Jaws user
myself, I was a bit bumbed out when I read this but downloaded it anyway
since it couldn't be any worse than it already was as fall as being able to
use it.

I've been playing with it for a few minutes and so far, a lot seems to be
usable even for a jaws user. There are some parts where I'm having trouble,
but compared to how it was before where the best I could do was use the
various jaws cursors to get around, it's a world of difference.

Perhaps more experienced Jaws users can also weigh in if they have a chance
to play with the program.

I doubt that this is the surprise mentioned in FS's podcast about Jaws 10
since Apple didn't even mentioned Jaws in their updated information and even
with Jaws 9, it seems to work well...
