IE 8 Opening Links In New Window

Hey listers,
I am running jfw 10 and recently installed Internet Explorer 8. All is working
fine except that, for some reason, any links I type into the address bar, type
into the open option or go to via my favourites list open up in a new window.
I have looked around and can't find any settings to switch off that would
enable or disable this. Does anyone know how I might be able to fix this
problem ?
