Addison, yes DVDs look exactly like DVDs and you insert (load) them
the same as CDs by placing them in the tray of your computer. I'm
still wondering what kind of content you hope to get from DVDs. For
example, a DVD with Word files should be readable by microsoft Word.
You wouldn't need a special player program. Let me know the goal you
have if you will.

Thanks Addison. I have another question: DVDs can contain movies,
programs to be installed, or other kinds of data files. What sort of
DVD content would you like to access? Your response might determine
the player program available.

Addison, we are also assuming that the CD drive in your computer
only plays CDs. Many newer computers include a single
"combination" drive that plays both cds and dvds. Are we correct
to assume that you have tried inserting the dvd in your drive?

Hi Addison, the only way you can play DVD's on your computer is
to either upgrade from an internal CD-ROM drive to an internal
DVD-ROM drive, or buy an external DVD-ROM/DVD-RW drive. Once
you've done that, you'll also need a player that can play DVD's.
One such programme mentioned on either this list or another is
called VLC Media Player, and it's free. If you do a google
search for "VLC Media Player", including quotes, you should be
able to find the website for the company that makes this
programme and also allow you to download it. Hope that helps.
