I would have loved to have accessible Nintendo, since our daughters played it all the time.
There is something to be said for the personal touch of small companies. I remember Dean Blazie coming to present at our NFB conventions, and everyone in the room having the privilege of following along on a note taker. I think he also had plans to revitalize the Optacon. Too bad that never came to fruition.

?Wow... Who knew that a simple invention would revolutionaze the lives of blind peaple like the talking computer. And to think that a guy like Ted Henter was creating something that hasn't seen before. A screen reader so complete and usable that versions of it are still being made and those old original versions are still being used. It must have been great days there where anyone with a small knowledged of computers could create something great. Now the things being created for omputers are not usable at all. Most of them are very complex and they go out of style in a heart beat. Those were the days. aajajaja! Sorry for the melodrama. jajajajaja! In fact, I shouldn't be talking. I was only being borned on the 1990. so I really don't miss most of the things of that era. Maybe my old Nintendo 64. I really wish that a screen reader would exist for playing video games.Well, enough babble from my part. I think Ted Henter worked with Dean Blazie at Blazie Engineering to develop screen reading software for it. Anyways, I used that in 1985, and when JAWS came out it really was much like the software for the TotalTalk originally, so the learning curve wasn't so steep. Then we went to Windows and I had to use WindowBridge for a while - no choice - but was very glad when JAWS for Windows came out.Jodi Jodi Cowle City of Madison, Information Systems -----Original Message-----From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Alan DiceySent: Monday, November 22, 2010 8:44 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: I met Ted Henter in 1990 Dear Friends, Well, I met Ted Henter in November 1990 when he came to a Blind Computer Users Group I had founded here in Miami. He basically came to say he was developing a Screen Reading software. I must tell you, I did not take him very serious, nor did I think many of the nearly 30 attendents didI actually chuckled to myself of course, when he took the speakers stand andstarted his presentation, "How does this guy think he can go up against Digital Equipment Company, DEC Talk, the IBM Screen Reader, Giant corporations that could throw as much money into their Screen reading software programs as they cared to". I had not a clue that he was on to something fantastic! I remember him as a very kind soft spoken, cordial gentleman. I am so glad it worked out for him, and us!
