How to stop the copying of files

Hi Listers, do any of you know How to stop the copying of files within folders
in Windows Explorer. Example I have a folder for MIDI music files, when I open
the folder I find " copy 1 of baroque .mid, copy 2 of baroque .mid" ETC ETC. I
did not make these copies, apparently windows has done this for me. How can I
stop this bozo process? I am using Jaws 7.0 with Win XP home. Huge thanks
