Yes, that does work with Vista and JAWS 11.

I can's help you with Vista. I've created half a dozen hot keys in XP. Try
identifying an icon on the desk top, use the JAWS cursor and right click.
Arrow up and down the menu until you come to properties. Then tab over to the
hot key edit box.
Not sure this works in Vista.
As for Caps lock and J, that won't work because caps lock plus J, using the
laptop keyboard, is "read word to the left."
You can, however, use your regular insert key plus J and that will do the
trick. I know. I just did it to be sure.
I'm not talking about the numpad insert key. I'm talking about the other
insert key, and all keyboards have them.

    Hello,
I was wondering if there was any way to create your own Hotkeys? Like to
open up word or other programs?
Also, Caps lock J on my Vista laptop with Jaws 11 isn't working. Is there
another way to do insert J with a laptop?
    Thank you,
