Okay, I'll try that before trying Steve's suggestion. I really ought to
get something better than the Windows firewall anyway, even for dial up.
I turned a good friend on to AVG, and she's using their product, and, of
course, everyone knows about Zone Alarm, . . . but I digress.

Thanks.

Ted

The balloon will stay for a short time in your system tray, so whatever
balloon you are getting, press insert+f11 and if you arrow down in the
list of items you might find the balloon there and you can right click
or double click on it. Hth

Turning off all help balloons would probably be overkill, but I can tell
you one I'd love to address. Are there any other XP users bothered by
constant reminders that your firewall is turned off? I can verify that
my firewall is on. I'm told to click the balloon to fix this
problem--lotsa luck. By the time JFW reads it, the balloon has
disappeared, or is about to. You'd have to have the fastest mouse in
the west to click this thing, while the clicking's good--and that
presumes you know where to find it. How can I convince this fool system
that its firewall is indeed on?

If you wish, you can reply off list to tlisle@xxxxxxxx, as I realize
this one is marginal, at best.
